Select the Datapage icon to navigate to the Datapage section of the Console.
From the Datapage menu select "New".
The Create Datapage Wizard will automatically launch when the Datapage Editor Starts. Click Next> to continue.
Using the Address Bar, navigate the Browser pane on the right to the web page that you wish to use as a template for your data extraction. Choose this page carefully as it will be the foundation of your Datapage extraction template. You should make sure that it contains as many permutations and inconsistencies as possible. This will make it so that the test extractions that you will perform later will best validate your datapage.
We are going to use Finance.yahoo.com for this example. You will see an animated wizard in the left hand pane helping you along.
After putting in your URL, click the green "Go" button to the right of the address bar.
The browser pane should show your web site. Notice the "Enter Symbol(s) area at the top middle of the page. We are entering some stock symbols for our example. They are: SEBL, MSFT, CSCO, F, PG, GE, MRK, MON, ORCL, and SBUX.
Then click on the finance.yahoo.com "GO" button next to the ticker symbol window in the browser pane.
A Columnar view of information about these stocks should appear in your browser window.
We have successfully navigated to the page we want to extract data from. The Datapage we are building will extract the Symbol, Time, Trade, Change, % Chg, Volume, and URL for the Intraday chart.
When we are finished, this page can be used for any number of ticker symbols which could be entered manually or executed from a list of symbols by a Package. We will use a Package to input ticker symbols later in the package section.
Now click "Next" in the left wizard window.
